People with a manager chain, absence with approval, and holiday balance. Self-certified sick leave follows Norwegian law: up to three calendar days at a time, four times in a rolling twelve months. The system warns rather than refuses, because absence that already happened has to be recordable.

Your systems send events with an ingest key. The log is partitioned by month, so retention is a cheap operation rather than a night of deleting.
